Nyungwe Forest

Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of the oldest and best-preserved rainforests in Africa, covering over 1,000 square kilometers in southwestern Rwanda. This massive emerald expanse is a biodiversity hotspot, sheltering 13 species of primates, including large troops of chimpanzees and the striking black-and-white Colobus monkeys. The park is famous for its exhilarating Canopy Walkway, a suspension bridge hanging 70 meters above the forest floor, offering a unique perspective on the ancient trees and the forest’s 300 bird species. The air in Nyungwe is crisp and filled with the scents of wild orchids and moist earth. Dozens of hiking trails wind through the forest, leading to hidden waterfalls and scenic viewpoints. Nyungwe is a place of primal beauty, where the sounds of the jungle create a symphony that has played for millions of years, largely untouched by time.
