A short drive east of the capital, Andasibe-Mantadia protects lush montane rainforest alive with orchids, chameleons and frogs. It is best known as a stronghold of the indri, the largest living lemur, whose eerie, whale-like calls carry through the morning mist. Accessible trails and excellent guides make it one of the easiest places to encounter Madagascar's famed wildlife.
