Senegambian Stone Circles (Wassu) in pictures.
Near the village of Wassu rises one of the largest concentrations of stone circles in the world, part of a UNESCO-listed megalithic landscape spanning Gambia and Senegal. Carved and raised more than a millennium ago over burial sites, the laterite pillars hint at a sophisticated lost civilisation. A small museum helps interpret these enigmatic monuments.
