The graceful Temple of Isis at Philae sits on an island in the Nile near Aswan, its colonnades and pylons reflected in the surrounding water. Like Abu Simbel, the entire complex was relocated stone by stone to nearby Agilkia Island in the 1970s to save it from flooding by the Aswan High Dam. It is among the last places where the ancient Egyptian religion was actively practiced.
