Karnak Temple, Luxor

Karnak is the largest religious complex ever built, raised and expanded over roughly 2,000 years by successive pharaohs. Its Great Hypostyle Hall holds 134 massive sandstone columns, some over 20 meters tall, arranged in dense ceremonial rows. Dedicated chiefly to the god Amun-Ra, the site still overwhelms visitors with its scale and the weight of millennia carved into every surface.
