The Serengeti is Tanzania's most famous safari destination, a vast ecosystem of open grasslands, acacia woodlands, and rocky kopjes teeming with lions, leopards, cheetahs, and elephants. Each year more than 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra move through the plains in the largest land animal migration on Earth. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers some of the richest wildlife viewing anywhere on the continent.
