Mount Kilimanjaro in pictures.
Rising to 5,895 meters, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain on Earth, its snow-capped summit floating above the savanna. A dormant volcano with three cones, it can be climbed without technical equipment, drawing trekkers from around the world along routes that pass through rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert. The mountain and its surrounding national park form a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
