Travel guide
Know before you go: timing, entry, health, and logistics for Tunisia.
- When to go
- The best time to visit is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October), when temperatures are ideal for both beach activities and desert exploration. Winter (December to February) is the best time for Saharan treks to avoid the extreme heat, while summer is peak season for Mediterranean resorts.
- Visa and entry
- Citizens of the United States and most European Union countries can enter Tunisia visa-free for tourism stays of up to 90 days. A passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry is required. EU citizens from certain countries (including France, Germany, and Italy) may enter with a National ID card if traveling as part of an organized tour with a pre-paid hotel voucher.
- Health
- No vaccinations are mandatory for entry. However, Hepatitis A and Typhoid are highly recommended for most travelers. Routine vaccinations (MMR, DTP) should be up-to-date. Rabies vaccination is advised for those planning extensive outdoor activities or visiting rural areas.
