Ghana

Know before you go: timing, entry, health, and logistics for Ghana.

When to go
The best time to visit is during the dry season from November to March, when humidity is lower and travel is easier. December is a particularly popular month for cultural festivals and events.
Visa and entry
US and most EU citizens must obtain a visa before traveling to Ghana. Applications should be made through the nearest Ghanaian Embassy or Consulate. A passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry is required.
Health
Proof of Yellow Fever vaccination (Yellow Card) is strictly mandatory for all travelers entering Ghana. Recommended vaccinations include Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Tetanus. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly advised, and precautions against mosquito bites are essential.
